  • Back in the day, Macca was rated very highly as a bassist. These days, not so much.

FWIW, I was floored by an electric bassist on an album I hadn't played for a while yesterday. I guy called Michael Manring, who I had to look up. Turns out he was a protege of one Jaco Pastorius! Although they don't sound alike.
  • I'll check him out. As you know, I'm not a Jaco fan. Technically brilliant, i accept.
  • The worrying thing is he is/was the house bassist for Wyndham Hill :-O

The bass work on 'Ariel Boundaries' is excellent, and I can see the Jaco influence.

  • That's interesting.

I really must find some more of his work.
  • Listening to Sky Garden again for bits of Jaco, there are indeed a few sections where he does that tight, burbling taking control of the beat thing.
