Maxed my Mini

edited October 2011 in Digital
I have been putting this off/haven't got around to it for almost eight months now - putting the extra RAM into my moosic'pooter. It wasn't having much effect, installed as it was in my socks drawer.

As it happens, the whole job took just 20 mins, was as easy as pie, and it worked A.OK right away. If you have a similar job on your 'to do' list, why not have a crack at it?

I relied heavily on this helpful guide: http://www.ifixit.com/Guide/Installing-Mac-mini-Model-A1283-RAM/1058/1 It was spot on.

Will it sound different? Probably not, methinks, but a lot of software players now play the file directly out of the RAM, and with large 24/96 or 24/192 files that needs a lot of RAM. Audirvana+ will hopefully not click & stutter with longer songs now.

  • Well done, Alan!

Did you use my pizza cutter tip?
  • I would have done, if it were not in a box somewhere in the garage! I found a pair of butter knives on their side could be twisted very effectively, the top was off in around 40 seconds.
  • Cool!

I'm glad you found it easy.
