Why 24/192 music makes no sense...

edited March 2012 in Digital
As the owner of a 32/384 capable D to A converter, this article had the potential to make me feel a little silly: 24/192 music downloads...and why they make no sense.

Then again, so does just about everything in this hobby; every decision one might take relating to equipment or software can be roundly contradicted and pooh-poohed by someone a whole lot cleverer than we.

I am only glad that I haven't invested too much in any one thing. The computer I use can play anything and my DAC actually won me over based on its 16/44 performance.

  • Well spotted Alan, but what a humungous article!

I have my suspicions about it, but I haven't read it yet, and may not be able to follow it, even when I do...
  • I spotted it being spotted by someone else on another forum! :D Some good logic in there, but it's being used to limit things rather than explain things. I myself don't mind what the truth is, I just hope someone remembers to tell me when they find it!

  • It's in there somewhere Alan.
    The BBC say so...
