    It's a shame van Vliet's only OGWT legacy is with that stop-gap band and the 1974 album material . We know what was possible both earlier and later with the Magic Band . This track is just easy-listening !

    FWIW, I've always liked his later albums.

    I like the later albums , certainly - 'Doc at the Radar Station' is one of the best .
    Trout Mask Replica is a one-off , a work of art as well as an album . You couldn't listen to it every day, but each time I come back to it, it seems to have got better .
    Zappa's 'Uncle Meat' is the about the only thing close to it , another cultural document of the time/place.
