Seca amplifier

Hi all
Just put it out on hear to see if anyone is interested iny seca that Colin made for me.
He did a fantastic job his workman ship is out of this world.
I am selling it as I belive I need more poke and to drive the speakers that I have.
The amp drives sensitive speakers with ease.
Pleases massage and post if your interested and all your thoughts are welcome.

  • Are you still using SBL's ?

IIRC they are 88db, 6 ohm load. They certainly arn't difficult to drive.

I've had decent levels off them with a mk1 Nait (15w)

How big is your room ?
  • No not using them now. Rooms not that big.
But I didn't think it drove them early anoth.
  • So what you running now then ?

If you like the sound of the SECA, I would stick with it, and find some speakers to suit.

Good luck what ever you decide to do :)

  • I have a pair of lumley speakers lms500

I do like the sound but I still believe it needs more.
    Thanks quickie :)
  • Yes it is Colin.

How you feeling my friend any better.
  • Personally I'd keep the amp and ditch the speakers.

But someone's going to get a fantastic amp.
  • So what speakers do you use?
  • Little chaps - Royd RR3s.

By reputation, pretty picky on amp quality, though.

@Alan has been having a lot of fun with some Triangle floorstanders with a similar SECA (actually, two monos). A search on Chews should tell you which ones he has.
  • Oh OK. I may have a look. Thanks.
  • Take up Dave advice mate
  • And Sov has three-way open baffles.
  • Hi all so no takers with my seca amp. It's a cheap amp for the sound quality. :)
  • I think we've all got them, Justin.
  • Yea that's true.
  • I'm afraid, I've got 3.
    ...And a Claymore...
    X_X
  • 3 that's good. And a claymore. I have a claymore Aswell sounds fantastic.
Ohwell may have to keep it and try make it bigger or sell it another way.

    Colin,
I'd like you to be using one of mine / yours.
Anytime you're passing by Gloucester call in and take one. :-)
  • SECA gone on loan to a mate in Belguim
  • Oh I see Colin. Mines not being used.
  • That's OK I just make another when I am feeling better.

  • Hi all
So amp is still for sale.
Very very nice amp in fantastic condition.
Poor Colin who built it is not very well at the moment and I don't want to keep on at him to fulfil my needs.
    Many thanks.
  • Hi forgot to say I'm only looking to get half of what I paid for the amplifier. Many thanks.
  • Hi, Pm sent. Mike.
  • Looks a remarkable deal.

Oh really, three amps for you all now up for sell or sold. As I suspect a spy for TQ >:)
  • No Colin I'm not a spy for tq. I just don't like bothering you when your not well.
  • NO spy he he >:)
  • How you feeling Colin.
  • Someone's going to get a very nice amp for a bargain price. If it was higher power, say 30/40w, I'd be tearing your arm off for it!
  • Well its close to 30w ask Colin he will tell you the full spec.
  • This was Colin posted about mine ...

"Just went into the PIT and did check Ben we should be getting about 30+W/ch into 8 Gnomes and 38+W into 4 Gnomes" (my spakers are 4 ohms) a few posts down by yer...
(As posted elsewhere moments ago, the midrange drive units on my (93dB) speakers break up before the amp does. Absolutely no problem with a lack of amp power from the One4 in my setup).

Not sure how those figures relate to justshoemark's... What case is yours...? I think I remember Colin saying that the oversized heatsinks on the one I ended up using meant that it's able to handle a bit more power...? I ended up getting slightly larger toroids (can't remember if by accident or (Colin) design.
  • I belive it's the same case Ben.
  • Righto. Then it's possible (likely?) that Colin would have adjusted the current adjust accordingly (ie to the same levels)...?
Obviously I have no idea what he actually did. I'm sure he could confirm or otherwise when he's feeling better.
  • My seca is now sold. Many thanks
  • Someone's got a nice Christmas present. :-)

    Thanks for letting us know.
