  • Sorry ;-)
  • Now't wrong with FBT, is what it says on the tin.
I'm currently listening to a Byrds playlist, tumty tumty tum.....oooh 'ang on, that's Genesis !

Oh, and Ben's listening to "noisy floors", could be a band name :)
  • I wasn't apologising for FBT, Chris...

OMG! The classic Coltrane Quartet just before they went their separate ways in '65.

    The intensity!
  • Seems the Coltrane stopped us listening for months  :o

This is great. Just one track here, but the whole thing is on YT:

The line-up is incredible, a who's who of modern jazz, all on one album.

  • I'm not a jazz fan but still...

  • I've been listening to Supertramp lately after a long time not doing so. Rediscovery can be great, Breakfast In America, Crime Of The Century which is far better than I remember and diving into In The Quietest Moments.

    A very underated band.

I really enjoy sitar over “western” music! :-)

I was looking for a cover of the old blues number, Sittaring On Top Of The World ;)

That's a shame. I like it. But there's no accounting for taste! :-)
  • Listening to Iro Haarla's Northbound album.

It's on ECM, so you can listen to it on your fave streaming service. or get a taste of it on YT:

The live video is wilder than the album, which is far more composed in feel.

Well, now I've started listening to the New FADs, I can't stop.

First New FADs track I heard...the single version of "Big" (1990). Other versions are slower than this. Possibly this one is a bit too fast!:

  • Opening track "Stockholm" from their second album 'Body Exit Mind' (1992).

  • edited March 2020
"What I Feel" (1995) from 3rd and final album 'Love it All' (1995)

  • And from their Peel Sessions (1991), "Purple Haze"

OK. I thought I should have known what FADs stood for. I did but the old memory retrieval equipment failed me.

That sound you can hear is Hendrix turning in his grave :-D
  • I'm listening to An Even Break, which is Tracks 4-7 on YT here.
Nice 1969 Free Jazz from Americans in Paris.

    So here's it on Spotify:
    Too good for words.

That got off to a cracking start!
There are fine pieces on there that seem closer to math rock than anything else but I was less keen on the simpler jazz numbers.
    Definitley worth another listen.

Yeah, give it another listen, Chris. I wondered what you'd make of it.

They've made five albums over 20 years and they're all great, IMHO.

And I wondered what @Docfoster makes of Melvin Gibbs' bass playing. A bit of an unsung hero, is our Melv, I think.
  • Found on another forum, never heard of them before but really suiting my current mood...

    I don't know them, either.

Difficult to say much without hearing more than a single track.
  • Don't know about Tidal but more available on Spotify...

  • I was cruising around Spotify and was taken by surprise with a rock outfit unknown to me but with a familiar feel, not just the 70s rock hue but more like knowing the players.

Lead by a guy who I always thought of as the worst member of Deep Purple and detrimental to the band.

Glenn Hughs!!!! Crikey, he's really good here.
The first album is a belter, I will definitely investigate the others.

    Came across this unexpectedly today.
It's a short video I took in The Black Cat in New Orleans a couple of years ago.
Me and my Dad had gone there together for a week's holiday. (During the video you see him paying for a drink at the bar.) The two of us spent the whole week enjoying music together. This was our last night.
He's dying of cancer at the moment, so this video has provided a route to some very happy memories for me today. I'm very glad I decided to suggest this trip to him.
