This thread on PFM reminded me of a long term ambitio to try some really proper JBL monitors one day, preferably with 15" white bass drivers (yes, I am - really!).

My Dads big HiFi speakers were some 2-way monitors from the mid-nineties (will try to identify them later) though he replaced them because they really needed some well to get going. They were really well built.
Anyone here had any experience with decent JBLs? Especially the classic ones?

However , they were used in the 70s to mix the main albums in Europe and AMerica, ive heard them with the concert "the wall" by Roger Waters (the dvd) , and was something incredible...great sound and so loud , at one point ive asked to put the volume down ... :-)
I've never liked the JBLs I've heard. But what does that prove?
