Bassist Henry Grimes went to Julliard, and played with Albert Ayler, Pharoah Sanders, Archie Shepp and others.

He disappeared for over 30 years from 1970 in LA. It was assumed he was dead.

Here's a wonderful account of his rediscovery and return to playing.
