I think the amazing thing is he has a point in how this translates into good sound!  A flimsy, cheap knob just doesn't deliver.

I remember the Musical Fidelity A3.2 integrated I had many moons ago. When my hand rotated the volume knob on that it felt as though I was turning the mixer tap on God's own shower. Smooth, weighty and purposeful. Touch is such a powerful sense.
