Since the late 90s I have worked in state primary schools. Inner city
schools, special needs schools and pupil referral units. All were
working hard to become ever better places of safety, happiness and
learning for their pupils. Since starting my own business providing
support to schools on various behavioural issues, it has been a
privilege - a genuine privilege - to work alongside a host of state
school senior management teams, teachers and support staff who are
utterly committed to supporting, in the most creative ways possible,
pupils with a variety of highly complex needs. Michael Gove knows
nothing of the creative efforts of these schools, nothing of their
commitment, nothing of their invention and nothing their compassion.
Most worryingly Michael Gove knows nothing of the needs of their most
needy pupils, nor of child development in general. Michael Gove is a
disgrace. The state school staff who he continuously undermines,
pressurises and tortures deserve better.
