All I can suggest is that something on your machine/in your browser is blocking images that are hosted elsewhere.

Do you have an ad blocker running, for example?

Well, it was irreparable when I last bodged the power connection to the logic board (according all interweb sources). That bodge lasted several years.

Now it is beyond even my bodging capabilities, it being a multi layered PCB.

I wondered if you'd just buggered up the HD. But you have an SSD, don't you?

Yeah. I should be able to simply pop the old SSD straight into another matching Mac mini, if I go second hand. Otherwise it'll take a couple of hours to set up.
