Visualisation of Jazz musicians, starting at Art Tatum

My friend Peter has run a visualisation of all artists related to Art Tatum, according to the 'similar artists' data in Last.fm - http://charts.animateddata.co.uk/tatum/

Nice.

Ahem. It's not perfect to look at, you have to zoom in to really see the names - that's Ctrl and + on Windows, or Apple and + on Macs - but it's quite nice for bringing up names I haven't heard of before. 

It would be interesting to know how much of the more obscure end of this data has been driven by Mr UglyMusic's own 'scrobblings' to Last.fm over the years ;-)

    That's cool.

    If there has been any influence, it's between East and South East, I'd say, roughly between David Murray and Joe McPhee, although there are plenty of others I've played carrying on South.

    But why Art Tatum? From my POV, he's a bit of an arbitrary start. 

    Or is it that Dudley played the jazz piano?

    Looks cool and I admire the creativity and dedication required to produce something like that.

    Having limited knowledge, I have no idea how valid it is!
