Rachel Cohen
Last weekend I visited the Mostly Jazz festival in Moseley. My main reason for attending was to see Gregory Porter who more than lived up to my expectations. Earlier in the day I watched Rachel Cohen front a four-piece jazz band consisting of drums, piano, double bass and Rachel on alto sax. They only played four songs but I was in awe of how together they sounded. For jazz (sorry Dave!) I found the music eminently listenable, perhaps due to the interplay between musicians that is far more tangible when you're standing three metres from them. Anyway, I highly recommend having a listen to Rachel's work - she composes most of the music they play. Tracks can be previewed here:

Jim Bashford is rather handy on the drums. The only drummer I saw at the festival with comparable skills was the guy playing for Gregory Porter.
