  • My humble submission is...

  • I queried her albums with Grok A.I 👇

Susan Vega's albums have been produced by various production engineers over her career. Here are some key details:

    • Early Albums: Susan Vega's debut album "Suzanne Vega" (1985) and "Solitude Standing" (1987) were produced by Lenny Kaye and Steve Addabbo. These albums were primarily recorded at Celestial Sound in New York City.
    • Later Albums:
      • "99.9F°" (1992) and "Nine Objects of Desire" (1996) were produced by Mitchell Froom, who was also Vega's husband at the time. These albums blend folk with more experimental sounds, reflecting the production style of Froom.
      • "Beauty & Crime" (2007) was produced by Jimmy Hogarth and won a Grammy Award for Best Engineered Album, Non-Classical. This album was released through Blue Note Records, suggesting a professional recording environment, likely in a well-equipped studio, although specific studio locations are not detailed in the sources.
    • Recent Works:
      • For "An Evening of New York Songs and Stories" (2020), Gerry Leonard is noted as the producer, with the album being recorded live at the Café Carlyle in New York City.

I used to have that on vinyl. I used to love it. Time to find it on Qobuz, where I may be forced to play it in hi-res  o:)
  • As for my entries: Almost anything on ECM produced by label owner Manfred Eicher (although there are few nasty ones, sonically).
Lemme think about some specifics and stuff that's not on ECM :)
  • My safe goto albums are mainstream.
Talk Talk, It's My Life & The Colour of Spring
    REM, Out of Time

There are others but the list could become infinite!

I know how these should sound...
  • They're good. FWIW, I like them.
I'd add Mark Hollis' solo album, but that's yet another acoustic album, and I'm amassing a load of of those.
I'll add Don Cherry's Brown Rice. There's all kinds of phasey/spacey things going on with the acoustic.
