Jim Goulding's tweeks from Texas - genuinely effective (though subtle). They deal with diffraction on box speakers. I bought mine when there were two dollars to a pound and before he got reviewed & hiked his prices - about £22 at the time!
A friend bought some too but couldn't tell the difference, so had those too. I cut them down to fit under the grilles so always have a set on.
That's interesting, not least because some earlier Royds had their own tweeter surrounds and Joe obviously felt that the RR3s didn't need them. Heigh-ho.
The RR3s have a sort of half-hearted wave-guide surround built into the tweeter instead. The surrounds definitely have a beneficial effect though, I would expect them to do more on other designs.
Alan, I had those diffractionbegone! things on my Dynaudios. Genuinely useful. Any way, as promised...
From left to right, top to bottom: NVA TSS mk3 power amp Pioneer PL-71 (Decca Super Gold) Pro-ject Headbox 2 head phone amp. NVA P90SA passive pre-amp NVA Phono 2 NVA TFS Musical Fidelity A3 24 192k upsampling DAC (mainly for freeview TV and radio from receiver elsewhere in room). (There are some Sennheiser cans sitting on top of the DAC.)
And on the floor... On the left is the PSU for the NVA TFS (there is a mains block tucked behind it - those plugs aren't coming out of the PSU). On the right are the 2 PSUs for the NVA phono 2 sitting on the huge PSU for the TSS mk2 power amp.
Oh, and that's an NVA Cube 'speaker on an oak stand.
You need to use the 'Direct link' on photobucket Raj. Then insert the here by using the little button (three in from the top right over the text box) with a picture on it. When you press it, you will get a small text box in which to paste your direct link. Remember though to delete the 'http://' first otherwise when you paste your link you will have two 'http://' and the link will fail.
seem to be having the same trouble as spacey, i've downloaded the pics from photobucket, could someone tell me how to show them, not very good with computers Al
