TT build
Found this photo in my backup drive and thought I'd share.
External ply base with hardwood trim. R3 sub platter and spindle and R3 main platter. My super bearing housing was made to fit the Rega spindle, can't remember the tolerances but once cleaned and lightly oiled it takes over two hours to settle with the main platter on.
I bought the Townsend parts in the eatly '80s. They made the trough and arm outrigger available for a short time.
I'll rebuild it this spring hopefully. I've got two Rega motors and am looking for a third. I fancy a Voyd/Rega/Rock hybrid thingy
Although a fan of idlers The Townsend Rock is the only belt drive I lust after. But mine will be primarily done in wood - not happy about metal and acrylics.
The one pictured has been dismantled and the parts stored. It sounded quite good but I couldn't crack the motor isolation properly so it injected some noise. I've got that worked out now I hope.

I did build a 14ft see-saw in the garden years ago for the kids - but all the Dads in the street kept playing on it
Show in the late '70s or very early '80s. It was astonishing. It only
had a, fairly, cheap arm and cartridge but it bested everything else
that year.
The 3 motor Voyd is also very good from the grip of drive aspect,
i.e. three motors. That's why I plan to combine the two ideas into a
