    I was going to include a PIL album, but I realised that another album led to it. So it's not in my third list.

    GYBR was the first album I bought.

    I'm reasonably sure the first new album I purchased was Seconds Out by Genesis but definitely not a defining album for me as I was already well down that road.

    Some peeps are surprised by my Led Zep moment above. Although I was familiar with Stairway....(impossible not to be) and Whole Lotta Love (via Top of the Pops theme) they had pretty much passed me by until then. Thence IV, III, II, I etc.

    While on show themes, The Old Grey Whistle Test's usage of Stone Fox Chase lead my curiosity to investigate American country/folk tinged music, nothing else from the authors, Area Code 615, appealed.

    Your point about Led Zep is a bit like my Elton John thing. I knew Madman Across The Water somehow but bought Goodbye Yellow Brick Road because it was the latest and had the singles I was hearing on it.
