Recording quality on SACD is pretty impressive! A little "samey" for me though with too much of what I'd describe as "plinky plonky" jazz although one or two great performances which I did enjoy. The version of "Take 5" wasn't one of them and probably best left to Dave Brubeck! I suspect that volume 2 is pretty much the same as vol 1 (ie if I bought it, it would all sound the same to me!). I am a jazz phillistine, although I admit a soft spot for Earl Hines's music.

He's great, and quite accessible - not at all 'Ugly'. A few years back, I would have been able to countenance it, so I must be 'learning the language' a little.
What a loss Dyani was. I heard him once live with David Murray and Steve McCall in a hotel bar in Birmingham. I'm glad I did, although I'm only really getting to hear his genius through recordings like this.

Sonny Rollins - The Bridge
His comeback album with Jim Hall on guitar who has never played better imho.
Ornette Coleman - On Tenor
Getting ugly Dave !!
A very 'free' live Sonny with Don Cherry. Wonderful.

This is a download from bandcamp, very nice.
Don't know why I bother with anything else actually.
