This is quite visceral and Raw... Nice though !

It's great stuff. I've seen Zakir Hussein live. And I guess Rakesh Chaurasia is related to Hariprasad Chaurasia, another bamboo flute player.

A bit of Noo Yoik Latin for you:
    Eddie Palmieri - Full Circle

I preferd to go with this...

I thought I had that compilation, but it's not on my NAS. I have to have a rifle through my CDs (I have a few missing rips, so maybe a project for over Christmas). I have some other Cuban compilations, and some Buena Vista-related CDs.

Also, the SQ was better on this...

    I've not heard that one.
  • Just this, wow
  • Just this, wow

    I've seen him, too!
But I hardly ever go to a gig these days, now I no longer live in London :'(
  • I'm really enjoying this:
    Out of/Into - Motion 1
There are a few tracks scattered round YT, if you care to find them. Otherwise it should be on all your favourite streaming services, I'd expect.
Anyhow, about the album. It's by a kind of supergroup, assembled by Blue Note, and it's one of the best things I've heard from the label for quite some time. I'm not sure how to categorise the music, which is one of the most interesting things about the album. It is some kind of jazz, and I don't think it should jar your tender lug'oles :)

  • Followed by:
    Egberto Gismonti - Infancia

One of the Brazilian guitarist/pianist/composer's more classically-inclined albums. Very nice it is.
Again, you'll need to have a dig around YT for more of the album. It's also on Qobuz, so I'd imagine it's on other streaming services.
  • And now...
William Parker Organ Quartet - Uncle Joe's Spirit House
I've recently finished reading the biography of William Parker, Universal Tonality. It's helped me understand more nuances of Parker's work and told me about some albums I didn't realise existed.
Anyhow, I've had this one since it was released in 2010. There's lots of it on YT, if you're interested.
  • Miles Davis - In A Silent Way
One of his greatest albums, IMHO. If you don't know it, you should!

  • The Messthetics and James Brandon Lewis
A kind of rock and jazz hybrid, but not like old fashioned jazz/rock.
    Give it a go :)

    This is nice:
Titi Robin - Le sable et l'écume

There are some tracks on YT, but it doesn't look as if the whole album is there. I discovered it on Qobuz.
The music is a kind of North African/Jazz hybrid (leaning more on the North African, I'd say) with some other influences (eg Indian) thrown in.
  • Shall we have something that's definitely jazz (not in the slightest bit ugly)?
Elvin Jones and Masabumi Kikuchi - Hollow Out
Strangely enough, it's the bass player, Gene Perla, who I don't know much about, who is the great surprise. But Kikuchi and Elvin are a bit good, too :)

  • Guthrie Govan...
Think he has to be my all-time fav guitarist 😃👍
  • I've never been a huge fan of Michael Brecker. Too much grandstanding for the sake of it for my taste, but the albums he recorded for Impulse later on in his life are where he comes into his own. Today, I've been listening to:
Michael Brecker - Two Blocks From The Edge
OK, it's definitely jazz, but it's as good as you get from the mainstream(-ish).

  • Dozing off to doggie calming music (god, it's boring) after our dog had emergency spinal surgery on Christmas Eve. We need to keep him quiet and crated while he heals.
