  • Bonobo - Fragments

Sounds good after a gentle alcohol-fuelled afternoon and evening! Kind of uplifting and chilling. Not at all challenging.
  • Some Snow patrol for me.
  • Some The Comet is Coming for me!

Probably my favourite amongst Shabaka Hutchings' multiple projects.
  • Lee Scratch Perry and Adrian Sherwood - Dub Setter

  • Lots and I mean lOTS of Steve Wonder today. My youth returned
  • Stevie Wonder is a love and hate for me. I love that series of funky singles from the early 70s; I hate his smoochy stuff.
  • Then  maybe Innervisions could be the one for you?
  • That's the one album I have. But I only like about half of it  :o
  • Thought I would start with something uplifting today Vaughan Williams The lark Ascending, featuring Nicola Benetti. Simply Beautiful.
  • Very nice!

I wasn't so pure in starting the new year. It was, perhaps, appropriate  :)

Fela's music is always uplifting to me, despite its lyrical content and purpose. He has supported me through some dark times.
  • A lot of funk in there, groove on!
  • Yes! And one of the greatest of all brass sections IMHO.
  • What else could you follow this with other than Talking Heads. Once In a Lifetime. I will now wonder of into some blue grass, not for many/any here. Have a great day.
  • How strange. This evening, I played Remain in Light. But no Bluegrass. No Bluegrass  :)
  • Looked into buying the Fella album, Expensive Stuff on vinyl at  Discogs. No chance £150+!
  • That is a bit much. There should be plenty on CD at a good price (advice given without actually looking!  :s )
  • Yes I think there are. There are always far more digital than the real thing. Just have to do with that :( , I do like it.

I missed the joke you fed me: At that price, it's Expensive Shit  :D

Fela is up there with the greatest, IMHO. Everyone needs some Fela in their collection.
  • Fela, Fella were are the spelling police when you need them? either way it has been resolved. Digital lies purchased from amazon and on the way!

  • Some Rory Gallager, and Taste, superb.
  • Taste? Now, you've got me there.
  • Taste were an Irish blues/ rock band formed by Gallager in the60 I think. Lots of them on youtube. Great band and great guitarist although possibly not to your "taste"
  • Sorry typical souf London boy, keeps dropping me 'atches. Rory Gallagher
  • Bless amazon, what on earth did I do before. Fela now in the house!

Possibly not. But I may give them a go if I'm in the mood.

    Same 'ere.
  • Matthew Halsall - Changing Earth

Probably his best in years. I love his trumpet tone.

    This is quite fun!

    Japanese Jazz Mix.
  • As I now have the Fela album I thought I would give it a listen. Didn't expect to find it this engaging. Probably well outside of my normal "listening zone" but worth it none the less. Let you know in a few days if it sticks!
  • Tried to follow on with some Fully Celebrated but, "still as skittish as a long tailed cat in a room full of rocking chairs" so gave up.

Thanks for the reminder. I need to find a CD-R.

Possibly, but not that far from some of it. I'd be surprised if it doesn't stick.

If I have a blank, I'll do it. No worries!

  • A friend reminded me of this, yesterday:

One of the best albums of the 80s?
  • And now...

  • Yep, love it. Some good bass and drums there.
  • Been listening today to anything that includes, Ginger Baker, John Bonham and Buddy Ritch. All via youtube.
  • Just started another Billy Cobham journey, Spectrum is something else!

    Sounds like a drummer day!

    Spectrum is great, definitely  :)

Not all at the same time?!  :)
  • No!.. maybe getting to be a bit O.C.D these days. Bass players, drums, guitar once I have heard a certain sound/technique I tend to go on the "hunt" for similar, sad isn't it.

I've done that for years. Welcome to the loony bin!
  • Gard Nilssen's Acoustic Unity - Firehouse

I'm enjoying this more than I did their more buttoned-down ECM release from last year. If you like Ornette Coleman's acoustic music, you'll love this!  :)
  • And, this one's pretty cool, too!

Gard Nilssen's Acoustic Unity - To Whom Who Buys a Record

One step further away from Ornette, I'd say.
  • This is good, too:

Gard Nilssen's Supersonic Orchestra - If You Listen Carefully, The Music Is Yours

And the artist of the day is...  :)
  • Those freaked me right out, didn't get it. Love the idea that we all like different things but your freaky
