Wow, a stream of great tunes guys. Enough to perk up anyone feeling blue.
I've been rocking out with the usual suspects but I really love Deep Purple's instrumental segment and play out on Hard Lovin' Man, NO cobwebs remaining!
Ornette Coleman Trio - Live at the Golden Circle, Stockholm, Volume 1
The image shows volume 2, but it is volume 1.
This is getting on for the best Ornette performance there is, IMHO. The other two are also on their best form. There's nowhere to hide in this kind of trio, and they're right there all through the album.

How could I next in line Court and Spark. "crates" about a 1/4 of the way through them now and loving every minute. Yes your right, a touch of reggae with the R.Palmer. Got lost a bit later, though I do have to confess I own/have 5/6 albums by him(not all here).
How your journey from there to the that which you listen to now, I don't get. Though some of your posts have "rung a bell" for me. Whatever it is you do keep doing it, I'm sure you will. Have fun My friend
There's lots of this album in individual tracks on YT. It's good, but not on the level of the Chris Potter or JD Allen that came out recently. IMHO, of course. I'll be playing this one some more, though.
Found one Diana Krall cd, The girl in the other room. Not sure if any of her albums came out on vinyl, so will make do with this. Have to say its pretty good

I'll give it a go, but Diana Krall hasn't been my cup of tea before.
Boring, noisy, pointless! my wife's comments but includes David Coverdale, Snakebite Whitesnake. What's not to like? Those of a more musical mind, step back from your computer
BTW, I loved Diana Krall's version of Black Crow. When I saw it on the track list, I thought it would be just about impossible to cover. Otherwise, I liked some tracks but not others. I did listen to all of it, though.
Interesting, hard for someone like me to comment. There were definitely bits I liked. The closest I ever got to piano trios/ quartets was/is Dave Brubeck and Mc Coy Tyner. Have them both here and have listened to them now and again over the years. Maybe one day Ill understand why I find the Free Form of Mclaughlin/ Cobam easily acceptable and yet struggle elsewhere, familiarity? who knows. Keep grooving.
Jazz. I suspect you are right, it comes in different forms. N ever been quite sure of its actual meaning or how it applies to different genres. Have to say being here has been an education, though I cant help remembering that fast show skit "nice"
Their first album, not the later one. When they were being weird and obscure. Later they were still weird, but popular in their weirdness. Or was that weird in their popularity?
Ibrahim's reaction to returning home to South Africa for the first time post-Apartheit. Sad and uplifting at the same time. There are other tracks on YT, too.
Just come to the last album in my four boxes, CSN and Young their first album. Oh my how time flies, completely took me back to my yoof Question is, (for me) do I go back to my son get some more,There are probably 10+ or do I move on.
I have a friend who has, for reasons I'm not sure of, his collection of mainly vinyl (some CDs) scattered around some friends and his parents. He has a permanent place to live, loves music, but grumbles that he hasn't heard this stuff for 10 years or more. Go get them!
I had my collection scattered over several hard disks after my previous NAS drive had three drives go kaput in quick succession, and I found my latest backup was corrupt.
It's great to get it all together again (although, TBH, I still have a few CDs to be found and re-ripped).

But, many of us have been there. Or somewhere like it.

You may guess I like this album . Just a bit
You don't get on with Ornette. I don't get on (much) with prog. It's the way it goes.
🤔 ...
I'll try to figure out what the milestones were and post it here once I've sorted out the story.
Muriel Grossman - Reverence
I find I'm listening to a lot of today's so-called Spiritual Jazz. It generally puts me in a good mood or it's something I can work to.

Unfortunately, I can't find what I think is the best track (on first listen) on YT.
The Necks are a strange mixture of jazz, improv, krautrock, minimalism and god-knows-what-else.

EST - Leucocyte
I love this album played loud! It's by far the best thing they did, and furthest away from piano trio jazz.
As you say, keep grooving!
Not quite his best album I have 'discussions' with my mate Mike over this. And he's wrong!
I have a copy of the Gomez, bought after I saw them on Later, if I remember correctly. And, I agree, none of their other albums have ever hooked me.
EST - Strange Place for Snow
Weather Report - Weather Report

And I haven't listened to any music, except in passing
