  • I pad lots of classical.Current favorites, The lark arising V .Williams. Shepard's song Elgar. They take some beating. Not the biggest classical fan but every now and again it happens. ;)
  • Someone bought me a copy of the Vaughan Williams. It gets aired occasionally (deliberate pun)  :)
  • Miles Davis - Kind of Blue

After some time feeling jaded about jazz's biggest seller, I'm getting to enjoy it again. That has to be a good thing!

  • As we ended the week with Miles, we're (I'm) starting the week with a chunk of avant-punk madness:

Marc Ribot - Yo! I Killed Your God

Track details and personnel on YT.
  • That is one of those pushing-the-limits of a tune type offerings.
You listen to the entire thing waiting for them to finally lose it but, of course, they never do!

For me not a case of liking it, more like a morbid fascination ;)

As for Miles, definitely not for me.

  • It's not something I play that often. It's more of being a Marc Ribot fan and that's not one of his best  :s

I don't think the Miles is the pinnacle of jazz that so many (idiots) make it out to be. But I enjoy it and respect it.
  • I'm listening to:

Chris McGregor's Brotherhood of Breath - Yes Please

And it's not on YT. Maybe have a look on your favourite streaming service?
  • This morning...

The Comet Is Coming - Trust In The Life Force Of The Deep Mystery

Sort of jazz/electronic/prog, if you like that kind of thing.

I couldn't find Yes Please on any of my streamers BUT I did note their live album
    Bremen to Bridgwater.

The same Bridgwater I lived very close to (in Somerset) as did Colin (Somerton).
Not a town you expect to see on a live album title!

No, I haven't been to Bremen, das ist sicher.

  • I have that one as well. And noted the location ;)

Shame Yes Please isn't on streaming. It's less wild than some of their others.
  • Today I am listening to, the miseducation of Lauryn  Hill. superb.
  • Today I am listening to, the miseducation of Lauryn  Hill. superb.

I haven't heard that in ages. Surprised it's your kind of thing.
  • I'm having a grunge morning!

Using Spotfy radio based on two simple, hard hitting rockers...

  • Ugly, , may I ask why does that surprises you? be interested to know how my musical profile looks to you B)
  • It's just that I can't think of anything like the Lauryn Hill that you've posted.
  • I agree not my normal fodder, but great none the less.
  • Perhaps my normal fodder (whatever that is):

Chris Lightcap's Big Mouth - Epicenter

Are you ascending or just larking around?

    Owwww!
  • Maurice Louca - Moonshine

    See what you think  :)
  • Starting the week with an old favourite:

    The Detroit Experiment

  • So, Listening to this. Love it or hate it floats my boat!
  • Of course followed by the obligatory (in my house)
  • To calm it down a bit,.. thats it Im out of here.
  • Just listen,..
  • Some good stuff there, Ron.
  • John Zorn - Nothing as Real as Nothing

Three fantastic guitarists on this one.
  • Bit of light relief and by the way loved the Stirrings?....
  • I'm glad you loved the John Zorn. There's something in his output for just about everyone, I think. Just like there's fair chunk of his music I find a very difficult or unpleasant listen.

TBS is for my wife  :)
  • Having a gentle Monday morning...

Dino Saluzzi - Cite de la Musique

Just one track from an album I've been enjoying over the past couple of weeks. Maybe this is the best of him I've found, or perhaps I've finally got into Saluzzi.
  • A collection of old pop and jazz that isn't anything like the boredom-fest these things often get to be:

    Julian Lage - Love Hurts

The matches are supposed to have a meaning around the dangers of burnout. Lage has been performing since he was very small.
  • Matthew Shipp - Harmony and Abyss

Who knew he wrote the Eastenders theme (track 1)?
  • Sunday morning music.

    Art Lande - Rubisa Patrol

  • I've been working my way through this bands  catalogue and settled on this album as the the most pleasing for me.

Took a bit of rummaging to find out they are called Giraffes? Giraffes! (or something like that). It's OK. Worth finding and playing from Qobuz.
  • John Coltrane - Giant Steps

Need I say more? (I can say much more, if you're so inclined  B) )
  • what can I say.. enjoy?
  • Treading on old ground,..
  • treading on old ground
  • I quite often dust off Joni and Talking Heads. Good choices!
  • Some almost lost British electric jazz from the mid-70s. Go on, say it!

John Stevens Away - Somewhere In Between

There seems to be one track only on YT.

I had this on vinyl, bought in 77/78, and picked it up on a reissue, remastered double CD, with the band's two other albums on Vertigo. The remaster seems to have been worthwhile. It sounds great.
  • Arild Andersen, Ralph Towner and Nana Vasconcelos - If You Look Far Enough

This is one track from YT, but there are a few others.
  • Some summery blues n rock from the less rated Purps album that I rather like.

    ...see where that takes me.

  • Where? Where!

BTW, I quite enjoyed the Deep Purple. Not quite enough to play the album(!), but a couple of nice late Saturday morning tracks.
  • Winding down into the evening, we have:

    Ambrose Akinmusire - Owl Song

Most of the tracks are on YT if it takes your fancy.
  • the best of..
  • like or not, some great stuff going on here.
  • something different..
