  • McCoy Tyner - The Real McCoy
  • That's an old fave Jim. Does it ever get back on the shelf? :)
  • Not too often
    B-)
  • Mahler - Symphony No2
  • Wadada Leo Smith - Ten Freedom Summers (Disc 2)
  • The Blue Notes - Blue Notes for Mongezi (Disc 1)
  • Wadada Leo Smith - Ten Freedom Summers (Disc 3)

This is a fantastic piece of work, extending over four CDs.
  • Jack Dejohnette - Special Edition

Great band with David Murray and Arthur Bythe on reeds.
  • The Blue Notes - Blue Notes for Mongezi (Disc 2)
  • McCoy Tyner - Remembering John
  • I don't know that one. Who's on it?
  • Chris McGregor's Brotherhood of Breath - Same

Can't get enough of the South Africans at the moment. Such richness in their music. Rhythms, sophistication, feeling, technical brilliance. I keep thinking of Mingus' great freewheeling bands.
  • I don't know that one. Who's on it?
Apart from Tyner I've no idea. You know I don't bother looking...

Very good though. Cracking version of Giant Steps

  • Bob Dylan - Highway 61 Revisited

    Original mono mixes
  • Creed - My Own Prison

    'nuff said.

Night of the heavy tenor players :-)
  • John Hiatt - Bring the Family
  • FJ Format 'Fabriclive.27'
  • Metallica - Black Album

    Without doubt their best IMV
  • trioVD - Maze (24/48)

Sounds like John Zorn 20 years ago, but none the worse for it.
  • Metallica - Black Album

    Without doubt their best IMV
    Enter celloman  :D
  • The Apocolyptica is quite good also.
  • Lee Konitz - Motion
  • Phronesis - Walking Dark
  • edited July 2012
Miles Davis Quintet - Live in Europe 1967: The Bootleg Series Vol 1 (Disc 1)

    First play.

Update: Not the best sq (although 'bootleg' is definitely underselling it), but the performances so far are fantastic.
  • Melody Gardot - My One and Only Thrill.  Nice version of 'Somewhere Over the Rainbow' - sounds like someone has pressed the samba beat button on a keyboard.
  • William Fitzsimmons - The Sparrow and the Crow
  • Eric Bibb - Live at FIP.
  • edited July 2012
The Murky World of Barry Adamson
  • I bet you made that up! :-))
  • Bob James & David Sanborn - Double Vision
  • Fairy nuff.

    Bloody silly title IMV
  • It's silly, yet apt. Much like myself  B-)
  • Neneh Cherry and the Thing - The Cherry Thing
  • Dusted off a lot of the ol' 'Roses vinyl after the recent gig.

    Something's Burning...
  • Art Pepper - Artworks
  • Lee Konitz - Motion

Why hadn't I heard of this one? I found it in a record shop (remember those?) in Brighton last Saturday. It gets maximum no of stars and a rosette in the Penguin Guide to Jazz, and it deserves every one of them.
  • You went in a record shop!  You can't play records...
  • Wadada Leo Smith - Ten Freedom Summers (Disc 3)
  • You went in a record shop!  You can't play records…
They did have about 50/50 little silver miracles and black proto fruit bowls :-)
  • Ryan Adams - Live after Deaf (Boxset).

Was it Rounder by any chance?  They've just announced they're closing down
    :((

No. It wasn't. I heard they're closing down. Much wailing and gnashing of teeth on Twitter.

We ought to have an afternoon in Brighton, as there are still a few record shops around there.
  • And to please Jim:

The Murky World of Barry Adamson :-)
