  • Just ripping a double CD that arrived yesterday. Chick Corea/Eddie Gomez/Paul Motian - Further Explorations. It's a double CD culled from two weeks at the Blue Note in New York, playing Bill Evans material.
  • Tom Waits - Blue Valentine

    And?
    Not sure.

Sounds a bit too much like an 'all-star' session, rather than three top musicians giving their all to the memory of Bill Evans. Also, I'm not sure about Eddie Gomez. He's not sounding as good these days as in the past.

I'll certainly be giving it some more plays, but at the moment I'm feeling a bit disappointed.
  • Shame, I like some old Gomez material.
  • Beatles - Abbey Road
  • Beatles - Revolver

He was at his creative peak during the 70s/80s, I think, then he seems to have slipped back into less challenging musical environments.
  • Sonny Simmons - Ancient Ritual

is blowing the Corea/Gomez/Motian cobwebs away.
  • Sonny Rollins - Way Out West

    Yeeeehaw!
  • Michael Hedges - Watching My Life Go By
  • Jim Croce - Photographs and Memories
  • Oli Brown - Here I Am (new album just released).

  • The Travelling Wilburys - Volume One
  • Any good?
So far, so good - phone calls interrupting listening. It's on pre-release streaming on iTunes. Give it a go if you have iTunes installed.

OK. What is the point of Tom Petty?  :D
  • And the ELO bloke. As always I get three or four tracks in and off it goes.

  • And the ELO bloke. As always I get three or four tracks in and off it goes.
Can I extend that to 'what is the point of ELO?', please?
