Luvvit! Has a trumpet/cornet player as well. And it's a bit more jazz than the one you have.

I always enjoy hearing Dave's uglymusic as well, which is why I know its worth persevering with, even if I understand very little of it at present.

  • John Lennon - Imagine
  • Yes. I can see him now. He's got a pair of blue reflective sunglasses and he's standing next to some Japanese bird... :-)
  • The Meters - The Meters

Can you think of a better way to start the weekend? Insanely funky!!!!!!
  • The Meters - Rejuvenation
  • "Stop messing around" - early fleetwood mac. Through my daihatsu car stereo at reading services in the sunshine.
    Bloomin' brilliant!!!
  • Miles Davis - Steamin'
  • The Artistry of Pepper - Mr A Pepper
  • Good one Mervyn, vinyl?
  • Michael Franks - The Art Of Tea

Yes Jim - mono Japanese version but seriously good sound quality.

  • Running on Empty - Jackson Browne

  • I often prefer mono to old stereo where stuff is panned hard left and right. A centre fill makes more sense to me.

    Darkish & Mexican-y. Delicious!
  • I don't know that one, but have some other stuff by them.

Agree Jim. Artificial stereo sounds just like that. Funny but I have a mono Sintra at the Sands ( there is also a stereo version I believe) which sounds fabulous and almost stereo with the way it fillls the soundstage between the speakers.

  • As well as early jazz lots of early rock/pop i.e. Beatles, Dylan etc suffer from the same problem.  It makes no musical sense to have the singer's voice hard left and his/her guitar hard right - particularly when it's only those two things going on.

I'm trying to work out the best way to fit a mono switch into my system.
  • Miles Davis - Workin'

    CD I'm afriad...
  • Sadao Watanabe - Bird of Paradise
  • Sadao Watanabe - Elis
  • Ornette Coleman - Golden Circle

    Again coz it's really good!!
  • 13th Floor Elevators - Compilation on the Charly label
  • Just had a play through the latest vinyl haul

    Jackie mcLean - Consequence
    Donald Byrd - Chant
    Wayne Shorter - Etcetera
Leo Parker - T+Rollin with Leo
    Dexter Gordon - Clubhouse

All titles part of the Blue Note LT series
  • Love the Rollin' With Leo - gets played a lot here.

Don't know that McLean one, any good?
  • Count Basie - The Atomic Count Basie
  • Count Basie - The Atomic Count Basie
MOST cool, Mr Jim sir, what a record! BTW, I think I love your little Torlyte platform. Or it's the cider making everything just dandy...

    Paul Weller - Studio 150

Lyle Lovett - Joshua Judges Ruth

It works then.  What improvements do you reckon?

A little clarity perhaps, less congestion in the mid to lower bass (an issue with small speakers). A little clean up that seemed to improve the front to back imaging in particular.

Its not night & day by any means, I just enjoyed things a bit more, it all felt a little faster. Of course, I could be imagining it all - as I said to you before I'm not that
confident when trying to identify exactly what I hear.

I've got the DAC & Lightspeed on it BTW.

Also I had to disconnect and reconnect all my stiff I/Cs, which sometimes helps too.
