Ian Dury - Sex and Drugs and Rock n Roll

    Load of guitar!

There ain't have been some clever bastards!
  • Led Zeppelin - 3rd album

    The (largely) acoustic one
  • Arthur Blythe - Exhale

Most of the Blythe albums I really like are the ones with Bob Stewart on tuba, instead of a string bass. Blythe and Stewart seem to have a magical shared pulse.

This one has Bob Stewart on tuba, although it's probably not essential Blythe.
Just noticed this.  Is that Bob Stewart from Meridian?
    :))

    Keith Jarrett - Testament Paris/London (Disc 2 - London)

He may be in his 60s, but he's still challenging himself and his listeners IMO.

I keep coming back to this. There's just so much here that I haven't fully worked out.

    4 x Samsung 1TB hard disks.
  • Afro Cuban All Stars - A Toda Cuba Le Gusta
  • Ornette Coleman - Tomorrow Is The Question
  • Miles Davis - Birth of the Cool

  • Ooooh, Birth Of The Cool

    Digging that out now!

  • Good deal! Which ones?
  • Leo Parker - Rollin' With Leo
  • John Coltrane - Africa/Brass

One of my Top 5 Coltrane albums, I'd think.

    • Miles Ahead

    • Miles Davis and the Modern Jazz Giants
    • Somethin' Else (with Cannonball Adderley) - isn't that strictly a Cannonball album?
    • 1958 Miles
    • Porgy and Bess
I have maybe five of the albums, but at 50p a throw it has to be worth it.
  • Alice Coltrane - World Galaxy
  • John Zorn's Masada String Trio - Azazel: Book of Angels, Volume 2.
  • Blimey, good haul. I've only got 3 or 4 of those.
  • Martha & The Vandellas - Early Classics

Really doesn't get much better than this...
  • Blimey, good haul. I've only got 3 or 4 of those.
    I thought so.

If you can bring yourself to buy CDs, it's on Amazon.

  • Gary Thomas - Till We Have Faces

Thomas seems to have disappeared. A great shame. I saw him in the late 80s/early 90s leading a band that was doing fantastic things with live samples and so on in a small theatre in east London, a band that AFAICS was never recorded. I also saw him with Miles.

Yup. It was going for something between £150 and £200 and annoyingly, it had a few tracks I didn't have - I have all the single albums.
  • Taj Mahal - The Natch'l Blues
  • Little Axe - Bought For A Dollar, Sold For A Dime
  • Although it's changed over the years my current favourite track on KOB is All Blues
It's a great track. There is a live version by Stanley Clarke that I'm quite fond of too. It's on the 'Live at the Greek' album.
  • Linton Kwesi Johnson - Independant Intavenshan

The soundtrack to my university course, probably.
  • Little Axe - Bought For A Dollar, Sold For A Dime
I don't want to worry you Dave but you've lost money there

    =))
  • Some people would say that about all of my collection :-(
