    Your ears are numb!

Could be, I've just spent 3 hours with my 8 month old granddaughter!
  • Weather Report - Heavy Weather
  • FWIW, A Remark You Made is one of my favourite WR tracks.
  • Yup, like that one.

    Now

Chick Corea - Solo Piano Standards

Particularly like his rendition of Blue Monk, very thoughtful reading IMV
  • For some reason, Corea is my least favourite of the 'big-name' jazz pianists from that era.
  • Donny Hathaway - Live
  • Joe Lovano - Sounds of Joy
  • John Hiatt - Bring The Family

    (Line -up of Hiatt/Ry Cooder/Jim Keltner/Nick Lowe - a real supergroup !)

    It's a great album
  • Joe Morris - Today on Earth
  • Little Axe - The Wolf that House Built
  • Ornette Coleman - The Shape of Jazz to Come

    First time in 2011 :)
  • Marc Ribot - Rootless Cosmopolitans
  • Maceo Parker - XYZ (according to the rip's metadata. I'm sure that's not what it says on the cover)
  • Art Pepper - Meets The Rhythm Section

Was Sonny Rollins - 1st LP - with Gromit in attendance
  • Gromit was a long way from home.
  • He was indeed, probably about halfway back to Lincs by now I should think.  With a pair of Minstrels in his boot.
  • Are there common parts with his Royds, or was he just after a pair of Minstrels?
  • Masada - Live at Tonic 2001, Disc 1

The classic Ornette Coleman quartet, on steroids? Unfortunately, I never saw them. Although I've seen all four musicians in other contexts.
  • Are there common parts with his Royds, or was he just after a pair of Minstrels?
IIRC he thought his had gone belly up.  Then found out they were OK.  He wanted these just in case I think.
  • Stan Kenton - Solo Piano

That's good. I'd rather have not seen them gutted for parts  :-((
  • Art Pepper - Artworks
  • The Who - Quadrophenia
  • Ahmad Jamal - Chamber Music of the New Jazz
  • Ahmad Jamal - The Awakening
  • Wishbone Ash - Argus
  • Art Pepper - Meets The Rhythm Section

And darn fine it sounded too Jim. :)

A 'lightweight' 401 with a Decca, an amp in a wooden box and some crrrrrazy Lowther open-baffle speakers - I could get seriously converted. I just loved the front-row, totally-wired presentation.

Coming home to my rig, I'm seriously considering a system re-think...been chasing my tail for the last 12 months or so and it's doing my head in.
  • Oh...finally got home around 5.15pm - M25 was shut J27-26 so big tailbacks there, then the A14 was shut J21-23 (Brampton-Huntingdon - basically where the A1 crosses it) so all A14 traffic was funnelled down to and from the A428 at St Neots.

To make time up I nearly broke our poor little Peugeot 107.
  • That was one hell of a journey mate!  Glad you made it in the end.  I hope the Royds got back safe too?
  • Royds are back safely, Jim. Fired them up and they sound great - need to give the drivers a small de-gunk but other than that all working fine. I still prefer the Merlins in my room - they're slightly leaner but have more incision and are happier working nearer to the wall. Will see how things go - I'm in one of those sort of 'I really want to start all over again' moods at the moment so anything could happen! :D

    Shostakovich 10 (BPO/Karajan)
  • The Grassy Knoll - Positive
  • Henri Texier/Azur Strings - Strings' Spirit
  • Mazzy Star - Among My Swan
  • Mazzy Star was rubbish

    Now

The Decemberists - The King Is Dead
  • That's better.  The Decemberists are pretty good.  Post-punk indie acoutic guitary type stuff.  This is my first exposure to them - enjoying.
  • The Decemberists are soooo last month  :-D
  • Tony Bennett - Live at Carnegie Hall 1962

Vinyl of course !(Pl-71/M3D/A60 )- really sparkingly live recording
