  • Bloomfield, Kooper and Stills - Super Session
  • Al Di Meola - Land of the Midnight Sun

    Now that does surprise me.

    Good album
There were a few short years around 1975, when the RTF/Chick Corea axis put out some good stuff, IMO, and this is one of the albums that's worth having.

    Why such a surprise?
  • A shade mainstream I'd have thought.
  • Blues Attitude - Paintin' The Blues With A Big Phat Brush
  • A shade mainstream I'd have thought.
I haven't always been the shunned outsider you see today  :-((
  • Oh well, in for a penny:

Stanley Clarke - Journey to Love
  • A shade mainstream I'd have thought.

  • Vaughan Williams 5 - LSO/Hickox (making the Minstrels earn their keep) ;)
  • As @Alan isn't here at the moment, I've taken over Community Silliness Duties  :-D

I was wandering who was on the rota for joke duty :)
  • Vaughan Williams 5 - LSO/Hickox (making the Minstrels earn their keep) ;)

    How're they holding up Richard?
  • Doug Hammond - Reflections in the Sea of Nurnen
  • Nick Drake - Pink Moon
  • Sonny Rollins - Saxophone Colossus
  • Such a diffident title
  • Arthur Blythe - Hipmotism

  • Johnny Dyani/Abdullah Ibrahim - Good News from Africa
  • Anouar Brahem - The Astounding Eyes of Rita
  • Wishbone Ash - live dates 2 ...........Thanks to SteveS1 who put me onto this stonking live album.
  • When's that from Scott?  I like a bit of Wishbone Ash but haven't followed them at all closely, I have Argus and a compilation from the '80s I think.
  • Jim,

Its the cd version of the 2 LP 76-80 live tour on the enigmatic label (which sounds superb)
There are still a couple available on Amazon from relaymusic at £13:95. Go below the jap version advertised where the "new from sellers" is now go into that and theres 2 sellers approx same price.
I can vouch for relaymusic who are fast and reliable as my friend and myself ordered a copy each and they were delivered the next day.
    Hope this helps,
    Scotty.

  • Cheers Scotty, will investigate.
  • Let me know what you think if and when you buy it    :bz
  • Will do
  • Eberhard Weber - Fluid Rustle
  • Elvin Jones - Poly-Currents
  • I'll see your Elvin and raise you a Philly Joe

Philly Joe Jones, Elvin Jones - Together

    B-)
  • They weren't related, were they? It was Thad and Hank(?) that were Elvin's brothers, I think.

  • Smokey Smothers - Sings the Backporch Blues

Jim have you got this ? - its a must have for Freddy Kings sublime guitar playing.

  • No mate, never heard of him.  But I will check it out.  Are Freddy King and Freddie King one and the same or different spellings?

Have you got Freddie King - Burglar ?  Outstanding rock/blues, fantastic recording as well.
  • Same person Freddy became Freddie later !

Burglar is later I think ( with Clapton ?) and his style had changed. Will rain check definitely.

  • Ahem! That's enough Blues  :D

Esbjorn Svensson Trio - From Gagarin's Point of View
  • Same person Freddy became Freddie later !

Burglar is later I think ( with Clapton ?) and his style had changed. Will rain check definitely.

I didn't know that - so same guy.  Whatever, bloody good guitar player IMV.
  • Shostakovitch - Symphony No.7 (Kirov Orchestra)
  • Elgar - Variations on an Original Theme
  • Evan Lurie - Selling Water by the Side of the River
  • David Darling - Cello
  • I used to have an ECM lp of him. It was so knackered, I got rid of it somewhere along the way.
  • Never heard of him before, liking it thus far.
  • Yo-Yo Ma - Haydn Cello Concertos (English Chamber Orchestra)
  • Never heard of him before, liking it thus far.
I seem to remember there were overdubs and electronics involved.
