Harold Budd, Elizabeth Frazer, Robin Gutherie, Simon Raymonde 'The Moon and the Melodies' (1986)
To be honest I really do not like Liz Frazer's voice these days, but still like the album as a whole.
  • Shostakovich 10 (in glorious 88/24 flac!). :)
  • Bobo Stenson Trio - Serenity
  • Fleetwood Mac - Rumours
  • Wishbone Ash - Live Dates double LP

Sounds very good.  A bit noiser than I'd like given it was listed as VGC.  I've emailed the seller!

The performance however is a different matter.  Really good all round.  The King Will Come and Warrior are terrific; big, bold and very live sounding.

Glad you like it Jim - stand out track for me is Persephone.
Going to see them live in March.
  • William Parker - I Plan to Stay a Believer: The Inside Songs of Curtis Mayfield

Parker is a monster on double bass. As well as his matchless free playing, he lays down a groove like few others.
  • Graham Parker - Howlin Wind
  • I'm tempted to add Charlie Parker  :)
  • If you heard I was playing Grahm Parker, that was just a rumour.

    I'll get me coat :)
  • ..and gloves, hat, boots and scarf...
  • :-)) :-))

    Where are they playing Scotty?

I just can't grow such an impressive facial forest.
  • That is a serious beard it has to be said.
  • It's a veritable Professorship in Beardcraft  :-?

    Enjoy mate!
  • There was an Old Man with a beard,
Who said, 'It is just as I feared!
    Two Owls and a Hen,
    Four Larks and a Wren,
Have all built their nests in my beard!'

John Martyn, Solid Air. And jolly good it is too.

    Excellent!

  • The Floyd has gone off, now:

Gary Moore - Still Got The Blues
  • I was listening to Blues Alive by Gary Moore just now when I heard he had died, aged 58.

    Sad and spooky.

Yes 'Going for the One, Pearl Jam 'Ten.Redux'
  • I'm listening to the remastered Ten off Spotify and even their MP3 streamed over the Net seems to sound better than my rip from my original CD. What are your thoughts on this, Jamie? Is the reduxed version worth owning?
  • Cannonball Adderley Quintet - Live At The IT Club

Tangerine Dream 'Berlin 1982' Tangerine Tree Vol 61.

Ben the Redux Ten is good, and if you can track down the boxset with the MTV Unplugged that is superb. The Redux has more of a rock mix, I found the original still sounded a bit 80's in its production, too soft. Redux sounds more like 'Binaural' as it is the same producer.

Are you listening to the Bowie 'Station to Station' from the recent box with the Nassau gig, that is worth getting too.

Jim 'Cannonball Adderley Quintet - Live At The IT Club':
should it be added to my to buy list? I love 'Somethin Else' but I don't like be-bop with organ, but do like electric jazz like 'In a Silent Way'
  • Jamie

Live at the IT club is fantastic.  Great performance and sound quality.  Buy it.

Er, Dave ;-) I just realised that you had replied to me!

I think the original of Ten sounds crap and some of the mixing is really clumsy. Maybe I'll get a copy of one of the new versions. I'm not sure I'm enough of a Pearl Jam fan to go for the box set, but who knows?

The Station to Station I was listening to was off Spotify. I'd forgotten how good an album it is. Maybe I should buy a copy of S2S. I'll look into the box you mention.
  • Coltrane - Blue Train
  • I really don't rate Blue Train. Coltrane was never a Blue Note-type artist, IMO.
  • Long way off my favourite Trane piece - but still gets a play now and then
