@Jim. This is the album where they're wearing masks I couldn't remember the title of the other day.
Thank you sah!  I'll hunt it out.

    Nice!
They may not be SRV, but MMW (see what I did there?) do a cool version of Hey Joe on this very album.
I'd forgotten that!  Time for a listen.

    Medeski Martin & Wood - Shack-Man.
  • Continuing on where I left off yesterday in the middle of Shack-Man.

Art Pepper's comeback album from 1975 more than hints at what's to come, but he hasn't learnt how to pour himself into his horn the way he would do after a while back gigging.
  • My wife saying "Why do the speakers need to be so far away from the wall, I can't see the telly"

    Cup of tea love?

  • ...so we can reduce the amount of TV we watch, dear...  :D

    All ambienty, it is.

  • That's Jim, that is!

You'd never catch me in a stupid green hat!!
  • Keith Jarrett - The Cure

Robert Smith never sounded so good :-)
  • Marilyn Crispell - Amaryllis

A fantastic ECM piano trio with Gary Peacock and Paul Motian. I love this kind of stuff, the way it has space and there's almost always a pulse running through it, if only an implied pulse.

I still wonder what will happen to this tributary of jazz now that Motian has passed.
  • Jackie McLean - McLean's Scene vinyl
  • Steve Lawson - Believe in Peace 24/44.1 digital download
  • Nik Baertsh's Ronin - Holon

A while since I've played this.
  • Scratch Perverts "badmeaningood".
From track 13. Really good and diverse toonz, selected and mixed well. Hip-hop, soul, ragga, drum'n'bass tracks all knitted together expertly.
  • Louis Sclavis - Napoli's Walls
  • Larry Young - Unity
  • Chris Bergson Band - Imitate the Sun.
  • Diana Krall - the best of. Real powerful vocals, and sooo relaxing.

  • Dave's favourite X_X
  • I've not got her Best Of album Justin.  Will check it out.  I've got 'Quiet Nights' and 'The Girl in the Other Room'.

    How did you guess?

It really doesn't get much better than this.

If you're a fan of jazz piano trios and haven't got a copy, why not? :-)

LIstening now on Spotify.  I don't 'get' it but I can appreciate the musicianship.....the drumming is spectacular.  The guy on the piano isn't bad either ;-)
  • Give it another spin sometime, it may eventually click. Geri Allen is a woman - still a rarity in jazz.

Thanks for trying it, though, James.

    Oh, you wuss!  :D
Even worse, it's off the Sky box through the telly!  I'm working on the kitchen refit.
  • Radio three is very nice, Philistine!
There is a high bitrate feed now (328kbps)which I think you can get on iTunes too.

Has anyone had trouble refreshing their iTunes radio lists? Mine can't do it reliably, and hangs. This is interfering with my remote app.

That's cool. I wonder if the iPlayer streams are high bitrate?

Not even close.  But it'll more than good enough to cook and eat in.  And it's my turn to cook
    :-O =))

    You're getting there.

It's not so far from Brubeck to Etudes.
