I've been waiting for this for months. The great altoist, bandleader, composer and left-of-field record label owner, Tim Berne, has an album on ECM. He's put together a great band and it sounds great.
Sounds very much like you'd expect a Tim Berne on album on ECM to sound like. It's one of his more composed/chambery efforts, except when they let rip, of course :-)
This is going to take some more listening to get to the bottom of.
Shipp sounds supremely confident here. Like under Cecil Taylor's playing, I'd hate to be a piano at Shipp's mercy!
I'd love to hear Shipp recorded in the studio used for Craig Taborn's Avenging Angel. The acoustic would emphasise his loud passages fantastically. Do ya hear me, Mr Eicher?
