Without a doubt, my favourite EST album. One of the few 100% successful collisions between jazz musicians and a modern studio.
Now:
Miles Davis - Agharta
Still controversial getting on for 40 years later, Miles sets out for the outer reaches It's music to give yourself up to, not try to analyse or follow. Settle into Michael Henderson's monster grooves (sometimes, unfortunately, buried deep in the mix somewhere) and let the weird stuff just flow over you.
I've had this idea of having photos of my favourite musicians dotted around the house. A kind of statement of identity I suppose (sad? you be the judge). Not sure by what criteria my brain is judging 'favourite', but Mr. James would be one...
What can I say? The finest album of all time. Coltrane takes himself somewhere deeply spiritual, while still remaining within the confines of what is recognisably jazz.

Iron & Wine, Calexico: In the reigns
Really good. He has that certain something...
It's country Tom, but not as we know it...
On his next album is a track named 'More blues, but the abscessed tooth is fine now, thanks'. Another cracking track is 'Sciatica stomp'.
This album just keeps getting better. Must catch them live one day.
