Possibly the only other musician who can regularly stop me dead in my tracks. Coltrane's living heir, IMO, and the only musician to move the possibilities of the saxophone onwards from where the great man left off.
Strangely enough, Ware was taught by Sonny Rollins at one stage and I think it shows.
Warpaint ,'exquisite Corpse' superb if you enjoy melancholy ,stripped out ,U.S indie sound, worth checking out for the 'Billie Holliday' track at least,
Cahme , track three reminds me of the theme tune to that classic tv show 'Taxi' , second last track, 'lowers in a nine sense ' is quite nice , that kick drum has fabulous texture and presence sat under that snare with tight ,short little stabs from the hat, like this one! not a bad wee LP ,will check out some more of Jim Black and Alas No Axis's stuff spoty. ;-)
An early sign that the so-called Standards Trio weren't just about standards. Apparently all modal pieces (no changes, geddit?) and a nice unchallenging listen.
