  • Charles Mingus - Ah Um

    Wonderful. Another 59er B-)
All the best things are from 59, of course ;-)
  • Ornette Coleman - The Art Of The Improvisers
  • Sadao Watanabe - Parker's Mood
  • Keith Jarrett - The Koln Concert 24/96
  • Abdullah Ibrahim - Banyana: The Children of Africa

Possibly my favourite Ibrahim album. But there are so many essentials, tomorrow I may change my mind.
  • Jarrett - Koln

    On the new OBs

    And?
  • In the other thread, when I've stopped listening for long enough!
  • Clapton - Unplugged
  • That's half-way there. Can we lock him in a cupboard as well please?  :D

    Listening to Sweet Earth Flying.
  • That's half-way there. Can we lock him in a cupboard as well please?  :D
    =))
  • Stan Tracey Quartet - The Poet's Suite
  • I take it that's not the same as Under Milk Wood? There is a poet link there, of course.

I'm not that much of a fan of jazz singers, so my thoughts about this are probably biased. It's OK. I prefer the Joni Mitchell covers on Herbie Hancock's The River, I think.

Quite different.  I'm sure I've played you a snippet when you've been here.
  • You have played me some Stan, but I don't know what it was.
  • Paul Motian - Motian in Tokyo

Absolutely essential for any modern jazz collection, I'd say. One of the best albums from one of the best improvising trios.
  • Jah Wobble and Evan Parker - Passage to Hades
  • Nils-Petter Molvaer - Khmer
  • Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan - Mustt Mustt
  • Paul Simon - Graceland
  • Neil Young & The Blue Notes - This Note's For You
  • Bert Jansch & John Renbourne - Bert and John

    Original 1966 pressing
  • Indigo Girls - 1st Album
  • Little Feat - American Cutie

I wonder how they came up with that title?  :-\" :-\" :-\"
  • The Doors - 1st LP
  • Sly & The Family Stone - A Whole New Thing
  • The Smiths - 1st LP

A day for debut albums B-)
  • The Blue Nile - A Walk Across The Rooftops
  • Tom Waits - Blue Valentine
  • Back to the first albums theme...

Rickie Lee Jones - Rickie Lee Jones
  • Dire Straits - 1st LP

I'm going to have a go at 2nd albums tomorrow.  Any suggestions?
  • Playing Blue Valentine again coz I love it!
  • Dire Straits - 1st LP

I'm going to have a go at 2nd albums tomorrow.  Any suggestions?
    I'll work on it tomorrow.
  • Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young - American Dream
  • Is that a 2nd album? Not up on CSN&Y
  • No, fourth I think.

Tomorrow is 2nd album day - keep up at the back please
    ;)
  • 2nd album day will have to wait, I was drawn to:

Crosby, Still, Nash & Young - Four Way Street

Hmmm, maybe it'll be live album day instead
  • Just as I had some second albums lined up!

    I can do live albums.

  • Not heard the RLJ, good?

I'm on Cannonball Adderley - Live At The It Club
  • It's the first time I've played it, TBH.

Seems worth a second listen :-)
  • Bob Dylan - Hard Rain

    His second official live album

    (See what I just did?)
  • From last night, all acoustic:

Very nice evening, I find the first movement on KJ to be really profound.
  • Love Nils. Digging some out now.

Koln gets better over time. I've been playing it nealy 30 years :-(( and it still surprises me.
